LifeHere's a tip: never, ever, EVER do statistical analysis of the dating pool based on (mostly) reliable data. It's far too depressing.

That said, let's talk numbers:
289534 - Number of women in the United States that are compatible with me based on relatively superficial criteria*
938 - Number of women in New England that are compatible
463 - Number of women in Massachusetts that are compatible
13894 - Number of people in Massachusetts per compatible woman
0 - Likelihood that I'll ever weed through nearly fourteen thousand people while sitting here doing statistical analysis.

* I made no attempt to estimate the vagaries of compatibility for personality, proclivity or situation. I could have, for instance, deducted some small percentage for those women that are currently imprisoned, in a coma, or have a boyfriend already (in roughly that order of preference), but I lacked accurate numbers.

I agree - did you see my list along those lines?

I'd be curious what criteria you used.

    1. estimated percentage of women I am very attracted to physically (5%... yeah, I'm sort of a snob. -shrug-)
    2. estimated percentage of women who would be physically attracted to me (25%... I was being generous)
    3. estimated percentage of women who are intelligent enough that I wouldn't want to strangle them (20%)
    4. estimated percentage of women who would seriously consider dating a man (93%)
    5. percentage of women between 25-34 that are currently unmarried (derived from census data) (46%)

The product of those factors (get it? factors?) yields a multiplier (0.0010695) that can theoretically be applied to any population of 25-34 year old women.
