This is the preface to a book I may or may not be working on, depending on my mood.
The question is, despite the lack of editing, would this (just over 3 pages in a paperback) be enough to convince you to you buy the book? I'm just trying to gauge whether or this particular voice is marketable, since it's slightly non-traditional.

I wish I were driving K.I.T.T. right now, and not this damn truck. That way, I could just kind of nod off while the car drove us to Boston at a couple of hundred miles per hour. Oh well.
Today is by far the most demanding day of the trip. Sandusky to Boston is about a twelve hour drive, and most of it is on the New York Throughway, which is one of my less favorite highways for reasons that I won't go into right now. Right now we're pretty close to Syracuse, and I'm sure more than one of you have a good idea of how much further I still have to go.
Yesterday was so much fun, and so exhausting that it's making today that much harder to deal with. On top of everything else, I've got a couple of things I have to take care of for work as soon as I get home, so I don't know how long it'll be until I get quality sleep.
On the bright side, this is the last of the fictional reports.

Too.. much.. adrenaline...
I'm exhausted. Cedar Point is the most ridiculous place I have ever been. We rode every-damn-thing in the park (except for a couple of hotties that I saw.. would've been slightly inappropriate to ride them, given the company I was keeping).
Anyway, I'm still buzzing, and I'm completely exhausted at the same time. Oh yeah, the ribs ache a bit now, but they held up pretty well for most of the day. I just had to steer clear of the wooden coasters after dinner or so.
Ok. Off to bed. We've got a long frikkin' drive tomorrow.

I'm in line for a roller coaster, and you're not.
Heh.
I've already been on several roller coasters today, and you haven't.
Muhahahahahaaaa!
Sorry. Just had to rub it in. 2 comments

Right now we're about an hour east of Chicago rolling through a town called La Porte, Indiana.

Like most people, one of the reasons I started this place up was to get back in the habit of writing consistently so that I could improve my abilities in that arena. In order to get further faster (I have the attention span of an addled gnat), I've also been doing some writing exercises.
One of the exercises I did was to start with an imagined snapshot in time and space, and describe it. The goal was to try to capture and accurately portray one of those "You had to be there." moments.
The starting point I chose was, "Slept in the car because it was raining. Woke up. Had to pee."
Constructive criticism is encouraged.

Buy an overpriced, marginally clever shirt and help support my sanity. [how?]
Here's how:
Proceeds from sales go directly to help maintain the place in Maine that I go to regain a grip on reality.
It's an old cabin in an area that's close enough to be almost convenient, and far enough that there aren't massive swarms of other tourists about. I've been going there three or four times a summer for over ten years, and it's always fun and relaxing. It's an old place though, and it needs all the help it can get. [ hide this]
