...into pop music.
Dear Wyclef,
I don't give a rat's ass how catchy and well produced your music is - sing if you must, but do the world a favor and never talk again. Your pseudo-gangster jaw flapping has taken something with the potential to be outstanding and reduced it to merely another top40 piece of crap on more than one occasion.
Yes, that one too. I don't care how many records you sold.
"One time" this, you fucking hack.

I know everybody's musical tastes are different. I know that the stuff I listen to isn't for everyone.
That being said...
If I have to listen to another fucking Steely Dan song I'm going to hang myself with my mouse cord. It's entirely possible that there's some real poetry in those lyrics, but I'll never fucking know because I can't get past the two part harmony being sung through somebody's fucking nose while being backed up by the most insipid and lethargic disco band on the planet.
I wish I could say that made me feel better, but now that the Steely Dan album is over, I'm genuinely afraid of what's next.
Shoot me. Now. Please.

...a wedding band everybody will like!
Ladies and gentlemen, The Wet Spots
I particularly like their video.
Okay, as far as I know, they haven't done any weddings, but I'm sure they could be convinced.
Update: I just listened to the whole album ("Hello Kinky"), and, in addition to "Do You Take It?", I also particularly enjoyed "Sweaty and Stinky", "Toes", "Piggy Pile" and especially the very touching (pardon the pun) "I'd Like To Come".
I guess I should order the CD, since that's half the album right there.

I picked up Murder By Death's new album a couple weeks ago, and I've been listening to it constantly since I got home that night.
Overall, the tone of the album is dark and moody. Each song tells a story, and each story illuminates a dark alley in a seedy neighborhood, somehow without adding any light.

I don't have time to get into a full-blown rant on this topic - one that's long overdue - so just read this document(PDF), and we'll leave it at the fact that I agree with everything except the ass kissing during the introduction.

After spending the majority of the week reveling in my rediscovery of Portishead et al., I've come to the conclusion that my selection of music is having an adverse effect on my productivity.
For the moment I've switched back to the "short list" I came up with while working on the first beta. Here's a sampling of what that looks like:

Buy an overpriced, marginally clever shirt and help support my sanity. [how?]
Here's how:
Proceeds from sales go directly to help maintain the place in Maine that I go to regain a grip on reality.
It's an old cabin in an area that's close enough to be almost convenient, and far enough that there aren't massive swarms of other tourists about. I've been going there three or four times a summer for over ten years, and it's always fun and relaxing. It's an old place though, and it needs all the help it can get. [ hide this]
